The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) held a free webinar on the Republic Act (RA) 11313 or Safe Spaces Act as part of its observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) yesterday, 25 November 2021.

More than 100 representatives from the AFAB, FAB Registered Enterprises, and local government units attended to learn from its resource speaker, Attorney Ma. Dorothea “Dot” Gancayco. Atty. Gancayco thoroughly discussed the important provisions of the law, types of gender-based streets and public spaces sexual harassment, online sexual harassment, as well as the varying degrees of offenses and their corresponding penalties.

During the webinar, the AFAB Gender and Development (GAD) Committee also officially launched its program, “Join, Win, Rise” to enjoin the FAB community to participate in several contests aimed to raise awareness about the various forms of violence against women and how to end them.
