Establishing the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Gender and Development (GAD) Corner is in compliance with Executive Order No. 273 directing all government agencies to institutionalize a mechanism of ensuring the full implementation of the policies, strategies, programs and projects outlined in the Philippine Plan for Gender-Responsive Development. Likewise, the establishment of the AFAB Gender and Development Focal Point System (AFAB-GFPS) is in consonance with Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2013-01 approving the Implementing Rules and Regulations on the Localization of the Magna Carta of Women.
The AFAB-GFPS consists of representatives from all departments and divisions of AFAB to ensure that GAD issues and concerns, gender equality and women empowerment be mainstreamed within the Agency.
To provide a portal for sharing information on mainstreaming gender and development, AFAB is established this online GAD Corner to feature AFAB’s collection of GAD knowledge materials and its related programs, projects and activities.
We envision ourselves to be a freeport where men and women equally contribute to and benefit from development resulting to empowerment and inclusive economic growth.
We commit to create a gender-responsive environment by integrating gender equality principles and perspectives in all AFAB plans and projects.
1. Strengthened AFAB GAD mechanism and enhanced capability to address both the practical and strategic gender needs and interests of internal and external stakeholders.
2. Increased participation of women and other marginalized sectors in the development planning cycle.
3. Enhanced engagement of stakeholders to AFAB GAD-related initiatives.
4. Expanded economic opportunities that are accessible to both men and women.
