MARIVELES, Bataan – The Seasia Nectar Port Services Inc. (SNPSI) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Mariveles Multipurpose Terminal last 27 February 2018 at Brgy. Sisiman, Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), Mariveles, Bataan.

The groundbreaking ceremony, which marks the start of the 2nd phase of SNPSI’s project development, was attended by Bataan Governor Albert S. Garcia, Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Chairman and Administrator Emmanuel D. Pineda, SNSPI Chairman Ramon R. Atayde, and Phinma Inc. President Ramon Del Rosario.

“Similar to what we like to say at AFAB, I believe that the success of Seasia has only just begun. We started off as a simple Freeport community, even joking around that we were a Freeport without a port, but now, here we are on the cusp of having a multipurpose terminal.”, Chairman Pineda said during his message.

The ceremonies also saw the signing of the Registration Agreement between the AFAB and Philcement Corporation, a subsidiary of Phinma Inc. and an incoming FAB Enterprise that shall locate in SNPSI’s Mariveles Multipurpose Terminal.

As a business group – the Phinma Corporation– foreseeing the successin the landmark and showcase “Build, Build, Build” platform of the Duterte Administration sought ways to participate in the said program that proves to be a positive experience for the company.

Given the resources available and cumulative experiences that the company has, they figured out that the best way to participate in the “Build, Build, Build” programwas through market reentry in the cement business. Cement is basically one of the key ingredients for the massive infrastructure program of the Duterte Administration and a logical path for Phinma to compete. Union Cement – a Philcement brand – was a market leader in the said industry many years ago.

The initial investment of Philcement Corporation for the Freeport Area of Bataan will be at a hefty Php1,250,000,000and anestimated employment generation of 500 for the construction phase and 100 during operation. The Freeport Area of Bataan - part of the “go to market” strategy of Philcement given its strategic location for distribution- is onethe of the fastest growing Freeport zone in the country and a pioneer economic zone in Asia.

SNSPI has been a FAB Registered Enterprise since September 2014, and is engaged in the business of handling of containers, bulk liquid and dry cargoes, refrigerated warehousing facilities, warehousing and stevedoring, lightering, towing and/or storing of cargo handled by the company to and from port terminals in the delivery from abroad and/or for shipment abroad. Seasia has recently been recognized as one of the FAB Top Employers for 2016.

The FAB is the Freeport of choice in the Philippines for high-end fashion manufacturing enterprises, having posted the fastest growth rate in both investment and employment generation from 2012 to 2016, holding true to its mandate of employment generation and improvement of the quality of living conditions. The FAB envisions itself to be a magnet for development, and is now moving towards attracting Business Process Outsourcing, logistics, and port-related operations.
