Herma Shipyard Inc. Launches its Newest Ship
Herma Shipyard Inc. (HSI) launched its newest ship during a ceremony held last 16 May 2018 at the Herma Shipyard & Port Terminal Facility, FAB, Mariveles, Bataan.
The launching of HSI’s latest ship, named M/Tkr Maringal, was witnessed by guests which included Bataan Governor Albert S. Garcia, AFAB Chairman and Administrator Emmanuel D. Pineda, Mariveles Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion, and former Secretary of National Defense Gilbert Teodoro. Also present in the ceremony were Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) Commissioners Atty. Reynold S. Munsayac and Atty. Rey E. Bulay, as well as Bataan BASECO Joint Venture President Eduardo Ruiz.
In his message, Herma Group Chairman Herminio S. Esguerra expressed how proud he is of the workers of HSI – of how good the capabilities of the Filipino ship builders are. He added that this latest ship is a testament that our ship builders can find jobs here in the Philippines, enabling them to serve the country while staying close to their families. This statement was echoed by Governor Garcia, as he mentioned that HSI employing 800 plus skilled workers is a contributing factor into Bataan having the lowest poverty incidence in the country.
M/Tkr Maringal is tanker with a length overall (LOA) of 86.10 meters and a breadth of 13.72 meters, and can go up to speeds of 8.5 knots. It is the sixth ship under the ownership of Herma Shipping & Transport Corp., a member of the Herma Group, after M/T Masinop, M/T Malingap, M/T Matipuno, M/T Matapat, and M/T Matikas.
