Brgy. Maligaya Kick-Offs Weekly Clean-up Drive
Public service knows no weekend or close of business hours. At the forefront of last Saturday’s clean-up drive was the Barangay Council of Barangay Maligaya, collecting garbage and conducting clearing operations along the entire stretch of the zigzag road up to the Mattel Beach approaching downtown Mariveles.
Together with volunteers from the Sangguniang Barangay, transport groups, FAB registered enterprises, FAB workers and residents participated in the activity lasted for three hours (from 6AM to 9AM).
In the spirit of volunteerism and responsible civic engagement, said clean-up activity will be conducted every Saturday of the week for the whole year to maintain cleanliness in the public and open spaces within the Freeport. Believing that this initiative will increase the community’s awareness and involvement in proper waste management and in preserving the environment, Punong Barangay Danilo M. Musni encourages more volunteers from the FAB transport groups, FAB workers and residents, different multi-purpose cooperatives, non-government organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations, as well as academes to join in the clean-up.
Brgy. Maligaya shall submit a post-activity report on the clean-up drive to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer to indicate the volume of collected solid waste areas covered, list of attendees and volunteers, photo documentation, and details on the waste’s disposal.
