AFAB Meets With PPA
As part of its continued drive to become a world class Freeport community, officials of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), led by its Chairman and Administrator Emmanuel D. Pineda, met with officials of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) last 26 February 2019 at the PPA Corporate Bldg. Bonifacio Drive, South Harbor, Port Area, Manila.
No less than PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago met with the AFAB officials. Joining Chairman Pineda for the meeting were Deputy Administrator for Operations Alewijn Aidan K. Ong, FAB Enterprise Department Officer-in-Charge Atty. Ramero S. Osorio Jr., and members of the FAB Ports Services Division. GM Santiago was joined by the PPA Legal Services Department Manager Hiyasmin H. De Los Santos.
The gist of the meeting revolved around the formulation and eventual execution of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the AFAB and the PPA regarding the transfer of port supervisory functions from the PPA to the AFAB over the ports that are within the latter’s jurisdiction. The conduct of capacity building seminars, as well as the laying out of a detailed transition period as part of the MIA were discussed during the meeting as well.
