AFAB collaborates with Library Renewal Partnership to help build libraries in the FAB

The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) led by Chairman and Administrator Emmanuel D. Pineda, together with Deputy Administrator for Operations Alewijn Aidan K. Ong, Corporate Affairs Department Manager Eliza G. Calimag and FAB Enterprise Department Officer-in-Charge Atty. Ramero S. Osorio Jr, met with Quintin Jose Pastrana, founder of the Library Renewal Partnership (LRP) to discuss education, literacy, and community development programs for the FAB.

The AFAB and LRP eyes partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement which shall commit both parties in the initiative of building libraries within the Freeport to promote literacy and community empowerment.

Earlier that day, Mr. Pastrana also met with San Carlos Punong Barangay Jester Ivan O. Ricafrente at the Mayor Carlos L. Sarreal Public Library and Learning Hub of Barangay San Carlos, Mariveles, Bataan for the turn-over of donated books and educational materials in support of the Barangay’s literacy and education governance programs. With this, the Mayor Carlos L. Sarreal Public Library and Learning Hub shall be LRP’s 996th partner library.

Library Renewal Partnership is a coalition that works with government, local and international partners to build libraries and knowledge hubs, and fill them with educational materials for public use. LRP currently has eight (8) Institutional Partners comprised by the leading local and international literacy advocates and providers such as National Bookstore, Adarna House and 7 Degrees of Change.
