AFAB and Mariveles-LGU Meet for MAPSC Meeting
The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) and the Mariveles Local Government Unit (LGU) convened for the Mariveles-AFAB Partnership Steering Committee (MAPSC) monthly meeting held last 24 September 2018 at the Audio-Visual Room, AFAB Administration Building.
Presiding over the meeting was MAPSC Co-Chairman and AFAB Deputy Administrator for Operations Alewijn Aidan K. Ong. In attendance were Mariveles Councilor Jose M. Carandang, members of the MAPSC Steering Committee and the Technical Working Groups (TWGs) on Security, Informal Settler Families and FAB Housing Program/Projects, Environmental Management/Sanitation, Transport and Traffic Management, Labor, Tourism and Promotions, Economic Affairs and Public Health and Sanitation.
Discussed during the meeting were shared matters on public health and sanitation, economic affairs, security, transport and traffic management, and informal settler families and FAB housing programs/projects within Mariveles. Regarding the latter, updates on the utility rates and status of residential buildings in Brgy. Maligaya and Brgy. Malaya were reviewed.
In connection with transport and traffic management, the assigned TWG proposed mechanisms to control and improve traffic management such as the time adjustment of truck ban, installation of boom gates at Zigzag entrance, installation of flood lights in Zigzag, imposition of weight limits on trucks, fines and penalties for stalled vehicles, and provision of towing services for stalled vehicles in Zigzag.
A call for enhanced coordination and collaboration between the LGU and the AFAB, especially on matters of transport and traffic management has been concurred to.
The MAPSC was created through the Memorandum of Agreement entered into and executed on 08 December 2014 by and between the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) and Local Government Unit of Mariveles, Province of Bataan. Through the MAPSC, the parties agreed to mutually support and assist each other in ensuring the economic and social development of the FAB as a catalyst for growth that will benefit the lives of the people of Mariveles and the Province of Bataan.
