AFAB partners with PIA
The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) last 30 October 2018 on the strengthening of AFAB’s public information system. Signing was held at the AFAB Administration Building, FAB, Mariveles, Bataan.
Undertakings enumerated in the MOA commit AFAB to participate and engage in national information drives, advocacy activities, and services of the government. The PIA on the other hand, commits to provide support to the AFAB in upgrading the skills of AFAB employees through the conduct of trainings and seminars, to assist in the production of information, education and communication (IEC) materials as well as development news about AFAB to a wider audience.
“We welcome our partnership with the Philippine Information Agency specifically in crafting our communication plan. We will be able to both project a better image, a better reputation of the Authority, and so that we will become more palatable, more attractive to potential investors. At the same time, we will be able to effectively manage the expectation of the public in so far as access to information is concerned” Chairman Pineda said.
Mr. Beltran emphasized the role of AFAB in empowering the community through the improvement of public information dissemination. “I think the role of public information is to really leverage the good news that is happening in our communities through the government media disseminating those [good news] to the mainstream media… We would just like to partner with you to further strengthen the role of AFAB and PIA in empowering our communities”, he added.
Signatories of the MOA include AFAB Chairman and Administrator Emmanuel D. Pineda, Philippine Information Agency Region III Regional Director William L. Beltran, AFAB Corporate Affairs Department Manager Eliza G. Calimag, and PIA Bataan Provincial Manager Jose Mari M. Garcia.
