AFAB Hosts Public Forum on Transportation
The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), together with the local government units and regional government agencies on transportation, held a Transportation Public Forum at the Audio-Visual Room, AFAB Administration Building last 09 October 2018.
Also present were constituents from Bataan transport groups, members of the Coalition of Labor Unions in Bataan (CLUB), and representatives of the FAB enterprises.
In his opening remarks, AFAB Chairman and Administrator Emmanuel D. Pineda underscored AFAB’s commitment in supporting the improvement of transport conditions in the FAB and in the whole province of Bataan. He also announced the upcoming construction of the Mariveles Central Terminal in the FAB as part of AFAB’s long-term plan of building a world-class freeport that meets all the needs and demands of all its stakeholders.
For the first part of the forum, representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bataan 2nd District, Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA), Land Transportation and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region III, and Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region III presented the updates on each agency’s ongoing transport infrastructure developments as well as upcoming projects, programs, and policies in the FAB and the province of Bataan.
The matters that were tackled during the open forum included traffic management, completion of road construction projects, implementation of transportation policies, and provision of shuttle services for FAB employees. Concerned agencies actively engaged in the discussion and guaranteed their commitment in providing a more accessible, more reliable and more efficient transport conditions in the municipality especially for the increasing number of FAB employees.
DPWH Bataan 2nd District Engineer Ulysses Ilado assured that the agency is doing its best to fast-track the completion of the delayed road projects. He added that the contractors promised to complete the road constructions within Mariveles before the year ends.
The improvement of transportation services is one of the core priorities in SOFT HEART - AFAB’s Priority Action Plan meaning Socially relevant, Operationally viable, Financially feasible, Technologically Advanced Housing, Expansion areas, Accessibility, Renewable Energy, and Transportation.
