The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) will recognize the significant contribution of its locators and stakeholders and give back to the community as it marks the sixth anniversary of the passage of Republic Act 9728, the law that established the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).

“We are very excited to celebrate, once again, this important event, which also signifies the success not just of the AFAB but also of the whole FAB,” AFAB Chairman and Administrator Deogracias G.P. Custodio said.

“We would like to thank the locators and stakeholders for their usual and untiring support to the activities of the AFAB,” he added.

The month-long celebration of the anniversary is set this October, where four major programs and activities will be held.

The highlights of the celebration are the much-awaited FAB Stakeholders’ Night and Sportsfest. Locators and key stakeholders will be honored during the Stakeholders’ Night through the awarding of the FAB Awards. The awards aim to thank the locators and stakeholders for their contribution to the success of the AFAB and the whole freeport.

Meanwhile, the FAB Sportsfest this year features Basketball, Bowling and Chess Tournaments. Nineteen teams of FAB locators will battle for the championship title in the Basketball Tournament, while the Bowling and Chess Tournaments are opened to all locators of the AFAB.

Hundreds of residents, on the other hand, are expected to flock in the two-day day livelihood-training seminar (LTS) of the AFAB set in Brgy. Malaya and Brgy. Maligaya on October 10 and October 17, respectively. The LTS includes food processing and baking lessons.

In cooperation with the SOS Children’s Village Bataan, the AFAB will also hold a fun run. The FAB Fun Run: One Family, One FAB, One Goal aims to help the children of SOS. Proceeds of the run, which will be held on October 25, will fund the needs and education of the SOS children.
