The Authority of the Freeport Area of Batan (AFAB), led by Administrator Emmanuel D. Pineda, joined the official opening of the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory at Mariveles District Hospital (MDH) on 23 April 2021.

According to Admin Pineda, having a new laboratory will be a big help to address health problems such as COVID-19 faster.

Now, with its Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, MDH will have more capabilities to respond to the growing needs of Bataan’s most populated municipality, Mariveles. The opening of the Laboratory can also greatly contribute to the ongoing thrust of the PGB to battle COVID-19 and to effectively level up the PGB’s test, trace, and treat strategy.

Relatedly, Department of Health (DOH) Provincial Director Dr. Francisco Hermoso formally awarded the license of the facility to MDH Chief of Hospital Dr. Hector Santos.

Bataan 2nd District Representative Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III, Bataan Governor Albert S. Garcia, Vice Governor Cristina M. Garcia, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee Chair on Health Board Member Godofredo “Bong” Galicia, Jr., Mariveles Mayor Jocelyn Castañeda, and Provincial Health Office Head Dr. Rosanna Buccahan also attended the event.
