AFAB Hosts Regular 2018 PIPP-TWG Meeting

The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) hosted the latest regular monthly meeting for the investment promotions plan of the different Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) of the Philippine Investment Promotion Plan (PIPP) - Technical Working Group (TWG) last 27-28 September 2018 at the AFAB Administration Building, Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).

Attending the TWG meeting were representatives from Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO), Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Board of Investments (BOI), Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC), Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), Regional Board of Investments – Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (RBOI-ARMM), Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Subic Clark Alliance for Development Council (SCAD), Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), and Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority (ZCSEZA).

The group discussed about the recent 15th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) in Guangxi, China, future international investment events, alignment of work plans as well as promotion activities across the agencies. A call was likewise made for the PIPP to be unified in dealing with the impending passage of the Tax Reform for Attracting Better and Higher Quality Opportunities (TRABAHO) Bill.

The PIPP is an aggrupation of 19 Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) whose undertaking includes the formulation and development of various strategies in order to position the Philippines as among the major choice destinations for investments, with each IPA having their own distinct functions and core competencies. The PIPP is subdivided into three categories – Manufacturing and Logistics/IT-BPM Cluster, Agribusiness Cluster, and Tourism Cluster – with the AFAB being a part of the Manufacturing and Logistics/IT-BPM Cluster.
