AFAB Hosts PCUP Caravan

With the objective of bringing government services closer to the public, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), in partnership with the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) and other government agencies, conducted Bataan’s first PCUP Caravan: #PCUPOnTheGo at the FAB Multipurpose Hall, FAB, Mariveles, Bataan.

The caravan operationalized a “one-stop-shop” of government services such as medical missions, job fairs, micro-financing, legal consultation and skills training, among others. The following government agencies participated in the caravan: Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Public Attorneys Office (PAO), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Servico Filipino Inc..

The event was graced by PCUP Chairperson Alvin Feliciano, PCUP Field Operations Division for Luzon Chief of Operations Engr. Florencio Inandan, PCUP Field Operations Division for Luzon Asst. Chief Olympia C. Micor, DTI Bataan Provincial Director Nelin Cabahug, PAO Region III Public Attorney III Atty. Francis Mandocdoc y Solis and PCSO Chief Doctor Dra. Juliet Diaz.

In his welcome remarks, AFAB Chairman and Administrator Emmanuel D. Pineda expressed his support to initiatives that aim to help and support the public, especially the poor. “Ito po ay isang napaka-gandang halimbawa na nagpapakita ng pagsasabuhay ng nais mangyari ng pamahalaan – na sa pag-unlad ng Pilipinas, ng bayan ng Mariveles, ng Freeport Area of Bataan, dapat lahat ay kasali, walang maiiwan”, he added.

Over 1,000 expected beneficiaries may avail of the government-rendered services offered during the caravan. The PCUP is set to launch 9 (nine) more caravans in Luzon in the coming months.
