AFAB, DOLE Conducts Seminar on Work-Life Balance and ECC Programs

The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), in partnership with the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch III (RCMB III) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) conducted a seminar entitled “Productive and Balanced Work-Life and Updates on ECC Programs” last 09 May 2018 held at the Audio-Visual Room, 2/F AFAB Administration Building, Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).

Spearheaded by the Labor Center of the Community Services Department (CSD) - the seminar is a capability building seminar regarding work-life balance and aims to update the participants on various labor related systems and programs.

Mr. Kenneth D. Liza, the supervising LEO of Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board III (RTWPB3) talked about the two-tiered wage systems, while Mr. Alvin V. Garcia, Regional Information Officer of the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) Regional Extension Unit 3 (REU 3), discussed the updates on employees’ compensation program. Mr. Rey Jose S. Soriano, an accredited resource speaker of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) topped of the seminar with a talk on gender sensitivity work-life balance for the FAB.

AFAB Chairman and Administrator, Emmanuel D. Pineda, gave an inspirational message during the opening ceremonies of the event, emphasizing the need for work-life balance, and to not be fixated too much on work that people essentially forget to live. Chairman Pineda said “Here at the FAB, we envision ourselves to be the Freeport of choice that promotes work-life balance. We aim to build a community wherein people live and not just exist- a community of happy and satisfied people – productive workers during work hours, and jolly smiling Filipinos the rest of the day.”

Miss Donia G. Alonzo, Officer-in-Charge of the CSD gave the opening remarks for the seminar, while Director Edgar G. Aquino, Regional Branch Director of the RCMBIII, ended the day with his closing remarks.

The seminar was attended by 68 representatives from 41 different FAB Registered Enterprises as well as representatives from the Coalition of Labor Unions of Bataan (CLUB). The seminar is part of the regular efforts of the AFAB and DOLE-RCMBIII to keep the employees up-to-date on all labor concerns, as well as to further enhance their capacity to be even more productive members of the community.
