AFAB Conducts Electrical Safety Awareness Seminar
In the observance of the Electrical Safety Month, the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) through the initiative of the Freeport Facilities Department (FFD), conducted the Electrical Safety Awareness Seminar and Reinforcement of the AFAB Electrical Safety Requirements last 29 May 2018 at the Audio-Visual Room, 2/F AFAB Administration Building, Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).
The seminar aims to increase the awareness of the FAB Registered Enterprises on electrical safety and to bring to their attention the importance of implementing these safety measures.
Engineer Edwin C. Zaldivar, the Engineering Manager of the Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PENELCO), began the seminar with a talk about Common Safety in the Work Place. He was followed by Engr. Nelson S. Andres, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture of the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), who talked about Electrical Permit, Plan, and Inspection in compliance to the Philippine Electrical Code, and by Engr. Benjamin G. Alamani, a professor at the BPSU, who discussed about Industrial Safety.
AFAB Chairman and Administrator Emmanuel Pineda opened the seminar by welcoming the participants and reminding them that while output and productivity is important, such things start to lose meaning once safety is taken for granted. He also challenged the attendees to become the leaders for electrical safety in their respective companies and to become the key to better and safer work places.
The seminar was attended by 60 attendees from 28 different FAB Registered Enterprises. The seminar is part of the FFD’s endeavors of increasing knowledge and awareness on engineering related matters.
Presidential Proclamation No. 193, s.2011, declares the month of May every year as the Electrical Safety Month with the goal of amplifying and reinforcing consciousness of electrical safety.
