AFAB to hold 1st FAB Women’s Congress

MARIVELES, Bataan – The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) will hold the 1st FAB WOMEN’S CONGRESS (FWC) on 10 March 2016 in observance of the National Women’s Month Celebration.

With the theme “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda”, this year’s celebration resounds the call for gender-balance in leadership and decision making positions both in public and private sector; inclusion of women’s concerns in leadership platforms and the government’s development agenda; and capacitating and preparing women and girls to reach their ambitions.

The AFAB Gender and Development Focal Point System, composed of the Executive Committee and members, set a series of activities for the one-day event at the Authority’s Administration Building.

The Congress will include two seminars in the morning session and entertainment shows and activities in the afternoon.

After the registration at 9:00am, the Medical City Clark will discuss Breast Cancer Awareness and Magna Carta of Women during the Session I. AFAB Board of Director Paulo Tibig will then discuss Entrepreneurship in the Session 2.

FAB workers, students and residents from Mariveles and Bataan are expected to join the much-awaited event. They will also get to enjoy other activities such as film showing and Zumba dance.

To offer more perks to the participants, the Robinsons Department Store booth will be offering various items at discounted prices. The Medical City Clark will also offer the following medical services for the participants: body mass index, blood pressure monitoring, vital signs/VA/Ishihara test, RBS and blood typing, OB-GYN consultation and lactation massage lecture.

The 2016 FWC aims to impart to the FAB community the essence of this year’s theme and recognize the contributions of women to all societies. It also intends to create an avenue for women and women advocates in the freeport to further promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
